Pelican State CU Partnership Offers Glen Oaks Middle School Students the Opportunity to Turn $100 into $1,000,000

Pelican State Credit Union and BizKid$ are providing an unparalleled opportunity for 8th-grade students at Glen Oaks Middle School to turn $100 into a $1,000,000 through the book “How to Turn $100 into $1,000,000.”

The credit union surprised 70 students with a $100 gift certificate to open a Team Pelican account at a kickoff ceremony on May 13.

The student who saves the most in their new team Pelican account by July 31 gets an additional $100 from Pelican and $100 from Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.

In addition to Pelican's contribution, “How to Turn $100 into $1,000,000" publisher, Hatchet Publishing, demonstrated their support for the initiative by donating a copy of the book to each student, ensuring that they have access to valuable resources to guide them on their financial journey.

During the ceremony, Pelican State CU CEO Jeffrey K. Conrad and Mayor-President Weston Broome delivered speeches empowering students to be financially healthy.

Through this pioneering partnership, Pelican State Credit Union and BizKid$ are not only fostering financial literacy but also nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit among students, ultimately shaping a generation of financially savvy leaders poised for success in the modern economy.
