La Capitol Announces New Board Member Stephanie Blanchard

State government veteran Stephanie Blanchard has been selected to serve on the La Capitol Federal Credit Union Board of Directors. She will replace longtime board member and treasurer James “Jimmy” Thibodaux who passed away earlier this year.

Blanchard, a debt analyst, has worked nearly a decade on the State Bond Commission of the Louisiana Department of Treasury. The Bond Commission receives applications from public entities requesting authority to incur debt or levy taxes. These applications are reviewed for compliance with Constitutional and statutory requirements and feasibility.

For more than 17 years, Blanchard was a fiscal analyst with the Louisiana Legislative Fiscal Office. She is familiar with the innerworkings of the credit union and has served on the La Cap Supervisory Committee since 2020.

La Capitol President Michael Hooper said Blanchard’s background and experience will greatly enhance the Board’s role in guiding and protecting the credit union. “Stephanie has a wealth of knowledge in fiscal policy and administration,” he said. “Paired with her experience on our Supervisory Committee, she can hit the ground running as an integral part of our Board.”

Blanchard fills a vacancy left when Thibodaux died in February. Thibodaux, a veteran of the Department of Public Safety, served on the La Cap Board for 31 years with 22 of those years as the Board Treasurer.
