Greater New Orleans Federal Credit Union, GNO FCU, is pleased to announce its three 2023 $2,000.00 Enola M. Fee Scholarship recipients, Terrance Davis, Zachary Hayley, and Jose-Middly Laguerre. This was the first year GNO FCU was able to award three scholarships, and we are so happy to give back to those who truly embody the principle of people helping people.
The Enola M. Fee Scholarship Program was established in honor of Enola M. Fee, a distinguished board member, who selflessly devoted many years of service to the credit union and the community. In keeping with Enola’s spirit of volunteerism, applicants submit essays highlighting how they hope to deliver the credit union philosophy throughout their lives.
“Assisting those who are in need makes me feel good about myself because I am giving back to my community in a positive way, Uplifting the spirit of others is a joy to see” said Terrance, who is graduating from St. Augustine High School. Terrance will be attending the University of Southern Mississippi this fall as a first generation college student.
“I plan on majoring in biological sciences with the hope of being accepted and graduating with a degree in dentistry. As a dentist I hope I will be able to provide service to communities that aren’t financially able to afford the high costs of cleaning, fixing and maintaining their teeth and other complications involving oral surgery” said Zachary. Zachary is graduating from Brother Martin High School and will be attending Louisiana State University in the fall.
“I think service should be a priority in everyone’s life. Kindness is free and it does not hurt us to help our society” said Jose-Middly. Jose-Middly is graduating from Academy of Our Lady High School and will be attending Xavier University in the fall.
All three recipients embody the credit union philosophy and share a passion for service. We were touched by the authenticity of their essays and are so proud to honor these three amazing students.
