New Orleans Firemen’s Federal Credit Union proudly announces that John Hoolahan, Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors, has been awarded the NCOFCU Volunteer of the Year Award. This national recognition, presented by the National Council of Firefighter Credit Unions (NCOFCU), honors his outstanding service, leadership, and dedication to the firefighter credit union community.
Hoolahan has served Firemen’s Federal for over 30 years, guiding its strategic direction and leading critical committees such as the Insurance and Community Development Committees. A retired Fire Captain from the New Orleans Fire Department, he has a 56-year affiliation with Firemen’s Federal, reflecting his lifelong commitment to supporting his community.

Outside of his work with the credit union, Hoolahan is actively involved in several community organizations, including a 42-year membership in the Krewe of Endymion, a 21-year association with the Irish Channel Marching Club, and participation in the Krewe of Carrollton for the past seven years. He is also a member of Pete Fountain’s Half-Fast Marching Club, the “Corner Club,” and has been actively involved with the East Jefferson Wellness Center for the last 16 years.
Through his extensive service on the Board of Directors, ongoing commitment to community development, and distinguished personal and professional background, John Hoolahan exemplifies the values of leadership, service, and community engagement. His contributions have made a lasting impact on Firemen’s Federal and the communities he serves.
