Louisiana FCU is looking to hire a full time Mortgage Loan Officer in Gonzales. We are looking for a Mortgage Loan Officer to join our team for the Gonzales and Baton Rouge area! The Mortgage Loan Officer is paid a base salary and commission. The base salary range is $54K plus commission. Role As an integral member of the Louisiana FCU team, you’ll be responsible for executing a diverse range of tasks in collaboration with other departments to deliver cost-effective financial services that prioritize the well-being of our members, who are our primary focus. The role involves daily business interactions while consistently aligning with Louisiana FCU’s mission, culture, core values, and core behaviors. Initiative and sound judgement are crucial, particularly in the absence of specific direction from management. The position is dedicated to adding value through decision-making that aligns with credit union goals and interests, all while upholding Louisiana FCU’s service standards and ethical principles. A key objective is to contribute to the growth of Louisiana FCU’s mortgage lending by guiding customers and members through the entire process, from loan application to the closing of a mortgage loan.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop strategic business partnerships to establish a robust referral network.
  • Prospect daily to expand networking and contacts through face-to-face and telephone interactions.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and Louisiana FCU members to understand and fulfill their financial needs.
  • Take thorough loan applications in adherence to applicable regulations.
  • Effectively communicate with peers, members and management.
  • Meet all NMLS requirements to obtain the required license, including training, testing, and background checks.
  • Exceed loan production standards set annually based on credit union goals.
  • Actively participate in Louisiana FCU-sponsored events and education classes.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the mortgage loan application process.
  • Actively cross-sell additional Louisiana products and services.
  • Uphold promises and commitments, maintaining trust through consistent and honest actions.
  • Stay informed about Louisiana FCU products and services to recommend suitable solutions to members.
  • Perform tasks assigned by the supervisor commensurate with the position.

Community Responsibilities:

  • Participate in community outreach by volunteering for various opportunities throughout the year.
  • Fulfill all required training within specified time frames.
  • Successfully complete XINNIX training program within assigned time if under three years of experience.
  • Ensures lending operations are conducted in accordance with established Credit Union policies.
  • Adheres to all local, state and federal laws/regulatory requirements as related to functional areas including Truth in Lending, Reg. B, Reg. Z and Bank Secrecy Act.

Knowledge Needed:

  • Experience Preferred three-year previous mortgage origination experience.
  • Understanding of mortgage loan requirements, processing functions, and underwriting criteria.
  • Education - Bachelor's degree preferred or a combination of education and work experience in sales and/or real estate.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Database management preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Mortgage Loan Origination Systems.
  • Knowledge of the mortgage and/or real estate market a plus.
