EFCU Financial Federal Credit Union, a dynamic credit union with an 89-year history of solid growth and stability in Baton Rouge, LA, is seeking an experienced, organized, and service-oriented team player to join our team as a Chief People & Inclusion Officer. In our service-focused organization, the Chief People & Inclusion Officer (CPIO) is responsible for developing and executing people and communication strategies in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. The functions reporting into the CPIO are Human Resources, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), and Training. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the CPIO participates in and contributes to overall organization business strategy development. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the CPIO is a critical advisor and strategic thought partner to the SLT to develop strong plans-of-action to attract and retain a well-trained, effective, and diverse workforce as well as succession plans to ensure organization sustainability and continuity.

The CPIO oversees all facets of EFCU Financial’s human capital needs including organizational development, talent acquisition, business partners, employee relations, compensation, benefits, HR services, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) efforts, and proper management of the associated costs. The CPIO provides strategic leadership by articulating Human Resources, DEI, Training and communication needs and plans to the SLT and the board of directors. This position works across the organization, collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders. The CPIO sets the vision and roadmap of the functions s/he oversees to foster collaborative, innovative, high performing culture and mindset.

Critical Knowledge, Skill and Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in human resources, or related field.
  • Juris Doctorate, or MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of related experience with at least 5 years of executive HR experience.
  • 7+ years leadership and people management experience.
  • Preferably 3+ years of experience in a related industry leading cross-functional teams and/or enterprise-wide programs, influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders effectively across the enterprise and within complex contexts.
  • Understanding of industry compensation practices, markets, and associated structures.
  • Capability to oversee internal credit union communications efforts necessary to motivate and inform employees.
  • Required to work effectively with C-Suite executives and board members.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment laws/regulations and HR policies.
  • Exposure to and familiarity with DEI best practices.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking by actively and skillfully conceptualizing, analyzing, synthesizing, and evaluating information from multiple sources and perspectives to reach a solution or answer.
  • Ability to use data to drive effective decision making, determine the work to be done, assess changes, adapt plans, measure progress, and follow-through on getting work done to achieve desired outcome(s).
  • Strong execution and project management skills to implement initiatives.
  • Ability to relate effectively and tactfully with all levels and demonstrates empathy especially related to sensitive employee matters.
  • Thorough understanding of talent management methods and change management methodology.
  • Knowledge of and experience with varied HR information systems.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient in creating a sales and service based culture.
  • Must be dependable and reliable.
  • Must pass all credit and bond requirements.
