Assistant Branch Manager

Ascension CU is looking to hire a full time Assistant Branch Manager in Gonzales. This position reports to the Branch Administrator/Manager Assist manager in all manager duties/responsibilities. Will be serving in all Branch positions as necessary, including handling of loans. Perform any balancing duties including cash drawer, ATM, Shared Branching, RDC, return items adjustments, cash, checks. Issue debit cards. Perform transactional duties by receiving or paying out funds with high degree of accuracy. Maintain accurate transactional records, providing basic cash receipt and payment services in accordance with credit union policies and procedures. Perform all job duties as related to the vault and serve as Vault Custodian. Serve as back up to the manager with opening new accounts.

 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and welcome members in a courteous, professional, and timely manner, providing prompt, accurate, and efficient service.
  • Properly identify each member before servicing.
  • Assist manager in overseeing all activities of the Branch operations area ensuring that rules/regulations/procedures are followed.
  • Help with complex transactions and sensitive member relations problems.
  • Assist in processing all BSA reporting to FinCen daily (CTRs, SARs,).
  • Maintain Monetary Instrument Logs. Balance daily ATM, Shared Branching, cash and checks, review RDC checks and approve/disapprove.
  • Check large check deposits daily.
  • Ensure that staff is trained and cross-trained on all phases of their job duties including safety and security policies.
  • Ensure accuracy in transactions and confidentiality is maintained, and staff has good up-to-date knowledge of regulations, policies, and policies.
  • Guide, advise, and mentor tellers in all job duties.
  • Open and process deposit accounts including savings, checking, IRA’s, CD’s, etc. Serve as a MSR/lender processing loans from start to finish. Know the processes and the policies.
  • Perform transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan payments, transfers, check cashing, gift card sales, etc.
  • Process to include examining checks thoroughly (including endorsements verifications) before negotiating and verifying.
  • Examine cash for accuracy and authenticity before performing transaction.
  • Follow instructions when processing past due loan payments by alerting the collections designated person before processing.
  • Provide transaction receipts for transactions processed.
  • Place appropriate holds on accounts for uncollected funds according to Reg CC.
  • Review account before performing transactions to be certain that transactions should be processed.
  • Responsible for overseeing the processing of mail transactions under dual control.
  • Responsible for overseeing night depository duties under dual control and process any deposits/loan payments/etc. daily.
  • Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all credit union products and services.
  • Promote, explain and cross-sell other credit union services such as consumer or mortgage loans, IRAs, certificates, safe deposit boxes, debit and credit cards, on-line banking, gift cards, e-statements and any other services and promotions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all related policies and procedures, rules and regulations related to financial transactions, including robbery procedures, security, Reg. CC, and BSA.
  • Count and package coins and currency.
  • Process shared branching transactions.
  • Must be very knowledgeable of shared branching policies and procedures and receive annual training and testing.
  • Balance cash in drawer and checks received to system totals at the end of each day/shift.
  • Research and resolve discrepancies.
  • Report any discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Ensure that workstations and lobby are properly stocked and clean.
  • Ensure that the cash vault contains adequate cash at all times, recommend how much cash to order from the Federal Reserve.
  • Ensure that all cash is verified, teller cash orders are accurate, and ensure that the cash vault is in balance at all times and balanced daily.
  • Ensure that teller drawer limits are adhered to.
  • Oversee adequate availability of Visa gift cards and reloadable cards at all times.
  • Ensure log sheets are properly documented and accurate to remaining inventory.
  • Offer suggestions and ideas for changes to help better service members.
  • Maintain/balance the coin machine.
  • Prepare coin for weekly shipments.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • MUST HAVE 3 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN ALL BRANCH POSITIONS.
  • Knowledgeable of computers and general office equipment
  • Able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Must be organized, accurate and neat
  • Maintain professional appearance
  • Able to work well with team members and credit union staff
  • Able to work in a sales-oriented environment and look for sales opportunities
  • Cash handling experience
  • Must be knowledgeable of all compliance and regulatory rules and regulations.
