Thom named VP of Human Resources and Training

La Capitol Federal Credit Union named Lydia Thom as Vice President of Human Resources and Training. Thom will oversee the employment-related functions and training of La Capitol’s more than 170 employees working at 15 branches throughout Louisiana.

Thom brings more than 20 years of experience as a human resources manager. She served the previous two years as La Capitol’s Director of Human Resources.

“We congratulate Lydia on her new role. This is a well-deserved promotion for a trusted and essential leader at La Capitol,” President and CEO Michael Hooper said. “As our Director of Human Resources, she has enhanced our HR and training procedures, and she will continue to look for ways to build upon the department’s mission. She is invaluable to this company, and we look forward to many years of her leadership.”

Thom joined La Capitol in March 2020, around the same time as the COVID-19 shutdown. Previously she held human resources roles with Amedisys, Associated Grocers and Baton Rouge General.

“It’s an honor and privilege to be named the VP of HR and Training,” Thom said. “I have a very talented team and one that is willing and able to do whatever is needed for the success of our employees and the members of La Capitol.”

Thom holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management with a concentration in Human Resources from Southeastern Louisiana University.
