Collector: Laplace

Responsible for performing collection activities associated with various delinquent accounts. Reviews delinquent accounts, determines probable reasons for account status, and contacts members to resolve the delinquencies. Utilizes various techniques, as circumstances indicate, to promptly collect on delinquent accounts. Ensures the Credit Union’s professional image is upheld. Maintains strict compliance with state and federal credit and collection rules and regulations in all collection practices. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Daily work delinquency queue. 
  • Contact delinquent members, as well as co-makers when necessary, by telephone and mail to determine the reasons for delinquency. 
  • Makes early contact with members to collect and keep them informed of their account status. 
  • Develops workout plans and collect on overdue accounts whenever possible. 
  • Ensures professional interface with members. 
  • Updates files and system accounts via the Credit Union’s system and credit bureaus. Documents all collection actions taken, including telephone conversations, alternative financial arrangements. 
  • Maintains accurate data on all delinquent accounts, repossessions, bankruptcy files, charge-offs, etc. 
  • Posts collected payments to member’s accounts. 
  • Recommends accounts for further collection, repossession, and charge off. 
  • Secures credit bureau reports. 
  • Skip trace on loan accounts. 
  • Maintains accurate data for repossessions. 

Education/Certification: 

  • High school graduate or equivalent. 

Required Knowledge: 

  • Knowledge of collection procedures and related laws and regulations. 
  • Understanding of Credit Union policies. 
  • Basic understanding of U. S. Bankruptcy Code. Understanding of Small Claims Court System. 

Experience Required: 

  • Three or more years previous collections experience is required.
